KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Television Station in Central California, is seeking an experienced News Photographer. This position is essential to gathering the high-quality content that feeds our top-rated newscasts. The role is critical to covering stories across our six-county viewing area in Central California. We are looking for a modern content creator who works productively as a team with a reporter or independently. We want someone to join our team who is inherently creative, embraces new technology and has a desire to expand their storytelling techniques on a daily basis. A successful candidate will be highly motivated with a proven track record in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of daily local news gathering. The ideal candidate thrives under continuous deadlines, approaches challenges with a problem‑solving mindset, and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and a proven work ethic.ResponsibilitiesDay-to-day local news gathering in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentShoot & edit video for daily newscasts while meeting strict deadlinesSet up, light, and transmit live shotsCommunicate with assignment desk & producersAssist with upkeep of equipmentCreate graphic elements for news storiesWork and collaborate as part of a team when assigned with a reporterMinimum QualificationsMinimum 1 year of experience as a photojournalist with live transmission technologies such as satellite, microwave/broadband and streamingExperience in relevant broadcast (e.g., editor or production camera operator)Must have a clean driving record and be willing join the IBEW unionAbility to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidaysProficiency in field cameras, lighting, and non-linear editing (Adobe Premiere or similar systems)Knowledge of live technology, such as Dejero and LiveUAbility to work as a self-starter, often alone, to find, shoot, and report stories with strong news judgmentAbility to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, especially for breaking newsAbility to carry and move up to 50+ pounds of equipmentPreferred QualificationsSmall to medium market experience as a News Photographer/EditorExperience creating vertical videosAbility to provide digital content for social media posts along with broadcast coverageRequired EducationHigh school diploma or equivalentPreferred EducationSome college preferredThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between IBEW-45 and KFSN-TV. The pay rate for this role in Fresno, CA is $21 to $30 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
