Aperture currently has four open work scholar positions in our program, within the following departments: Editorial Books, Education and Public Programs, Development, and Design and Social Video. What You Can Expect to Learn - Editorial (Books) As a work scholar, you will be engaged primarily with the research, organization, and editorial process behind a major publication focused on the history of American photography.By the end of your term, you can expect to have developed an in-depth understanding of this specific project and to feel proud of your meaningful contributions—whether through research, fact-checking, proofreading, drafting material, database management, or assisting with image rights and captions. What you can expect to learn - Education & Public Programs How to contribute to the development of new educational programs in support of Aperture’s mission. What You Can Expect to Learn - Development Techniques and strategies used to attain development goals, both on fiscal and mission-driven levels Methods for donor research and grant writing Effective strategies for cultivation and stewardship of institutional and individual donors Skills for creating successful development materials and acknowledgment letters Knowledge of the art world and the philanthropy system Event planning and preparation skills Database and gift processing How to create and submit tracking forms and financial information for payment processing Aperture’s departmental meetings and protocol What You Can Expect to Learn - Design and Social Video How to communicate visual ideas and storytelling effectively, to both individual colleagues and a group Social media strategy and marketing experience How to create impactful content that fulfills Aperture’s mission, vision, and values. Aperture will be offering a salary of $18 per hour to start for this position.
