The ideal candidate will have an interest in writing about a broad cross-section of topics, including, business, art, government, the environment, individual profiles, school activities and sports. A degree in journalism, communication or writing is a plus, along with experience working for a newspaper. Photography skills also a plus. Currently, the position is primarily remote, however, it is essential that the assistant editor be available for in person work in Carpinteria to conduct interviews, attend meetings/events and research stories. All Covid-19 safety precautions will be taken.
