The teacher's role is to support children in their explorations of the world in a gentle and nurturing manner. To make certain that teachers fulfill this mission, Manhattan Schoolhouse has created a culture of continuous professional development so that teachers can provide a high quality of care for all of the children and families in the school. The main responsibilities of an assistant teacher are (but not limited to): • Support the classroom’s overall organization, which includes but is not limited to teachers’ roles/responsibilities, schedules, lesson plans, classroom events and transitions. • Step in and act as a head teacher when the head teacher may be absent. • Meet regularly with the head teacher to collaborate upon all aspects of one’s responsibilities and overall care of the children and families of the class.
