LaLa Photography is a fun, family-focused studio in Folsom that creates joyful, memorable experiences for families of all ages. We bring high energy, warmth, and a people-first approach to every session, helping clients feel comfortable, connected, and excited to capture their milestones.

We're looking for a fun, energetic, outgoing team player to become our newest photographer — someone who isn't afraid to be a top-notch smile engineer. Our photographers become masters of building rapport and creating a fun environment. Our goal isn't just to capture memories, but to create an experience our clients will cherish for years. Our team has a work hard/play hard, can-do attitude, and our next photographer loves to make people of all ages laugh. This person is a quick thinker who adapts to changing situations and rolls with the punches.

The role is a blend of photography and editing. You'll spend most of your time running sessions in the studio, and the rest editing your photos so clients get polished, beautiful final images. We train you on both.

No camera experience needed. Many of our strongest team members had little to no photography experience before joining LaLa — many came from childcare, nannying, hospitality, education, sales, theater, or retail. What we can't train is warmth, presence, and the natural ability to connect with kids. We'll teach you the rest.

Is this the right fit for you? This role is built for people excited to learn our method from the ground up and grow with the team. It also includes a sales component, so we're looking for someone comfortable guiding clients and contributing to a great experience from start to finish. Each photoshoot has a different dynamic, and this job rewards people who find that fun rather than stressful. One note: it's not the right fit if you're a working photographer hoping to pick up side hours — because of the nature of our business, our photographers agree not to run outside portrait businesses or take on commercial portrait work while employed with us.

Schedule. This is a part-time, in-person studio role of roughly 20–22 hours per week across about 4 shifts. Some weekend availability is required — you must be available for at least one weekend shift, and we prefer candidates who can work two. Availability during our busy season, November 1 – December 23, is especially important; time off is limited during that window. Our weekend shifts are:

Friday, 3pm – 8pm
Saturday, 9am – 2pm (our highest-priority shift)
Saturday, 3pm – 8pm
Sunday, 9am – 2pm
Sunday, 3pm – 8pm

Responsibilities

Directing photo sessions of families and children ages 6 months and up
Bringing high energy to every session, engaging families and sparking genuine smiles and laughter
Editing the photos from your sessions to our studio's standards (we train you)
Staging and tearing down backdrops and sets; helping maintain prop and studio organization
Coordinating with the team to keep the client experience consistent
Communicating with clients to understand their goals for the session

What we're looking for

Strong people skills and a warm, upbeat presence
Confidence working with children and families
High emotional intelligence and quick adaptability to different personalities
Comfort with a sales component — guiding clients and communicating clearly
A customer-service mindset
Clear, professional communication and presentation
Comfort learning new tools and processes (we train you on camera, editing, and studio technique)
Availability for at least one — preferably two — weekend shifts, with a strong preference for Saturday 9am–2pm
Availability during our busy season, November 1 – December 23
High school diploma or equivalent
