Position OverviewReporting to the Library’s Director of Teaching and Learning, the Educational Technologist Librarian will lead the library in the use of technology and tools for excellence in teaching, learning, and assessment of library skills and the development of student information, digital, visual, and data literacy. CDL also assists UC to share resources and holdings more effectively, and provides leadership in applying technology to the development of library collections and services. Organizationally situated within the UC Office of the President, the CDL operates in close collaboration with all UC campuses and their libraries.Key Responsibilities• Consulting with librarians to identify and implement technology for teaching, learning, and assessment,• Consulting with faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants to assess and implement technology for experiential and enhanced learning,• Consulting with students in their use of technology for academic and professional needs, including audio/visual media production, design and visualization, and information dissemination and sharing,• Develop services and resources for supporting the effective use of technology in teaching and learning, including lesson plans, teaching tools, and asynchronous learning objects, focused on library and information literacies,• Establish and provide programming, including course-related instruction and workshops, related to the above areas to be offered in library spaces to utilize and promote library technology for teaching and learning,• Provide guidance and resources for intellectual property, copyright, and Fair Use as it pertains to instruction content development and use,• Provide guidance and resources for ethical and appropriate use of generative AI as it pertains to teaching, learning, assessment, and academic integrity,• Research and make recommendations regarding the use of technology in library teaching and learning spaces, including classrooms, enhanced learning spaces, and service points,• Provide general reference service support for students working on the information desk both virtually and in-person,• Contribute to DigiRef, the UC-wide consortium virtual reference service,• Participate in departmental instructional rotations, reference support, projects, and service development,• Participate in assessment and other quality improvement activities,• Participate in effective communications and engagement with appropriate stakeholders to maintain knowledge contribution to library collections and resources development,• Collaborate with colleagues across the library and the campus on student engagement activities,• Independently and collaboratively participate in ongoing professional development.UC professional librarians are academic appointees and are represented by an exclusive bargaining unit; The University Council-American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT).
