As the storytellers of South Carolina, the South Carolina State Museum (SCSM) staff share the rich natural history and cultural diversity, innovative spirit, and artistic creativity of the state through the museum’s permanent collections, educational programs, exhibitions and digital resources. The South Carolina State Museum seeks a detail-oriented individual to be responsible for digitally imaging the objects in the collection, primarily through DSLR photography of 3D objects. Reporting to the Director of Collections Management, the Collections Photographer will take the lead inphotographing the collection for use by Museum staff and the public. Responsibilities and Duties : • Photographs objects in the collection, focusing on incoming acquisitions, publication-level photography and other needs arising from museum exhibition and programming • Applies post-capture image adjustments and processing • Works with colleagues to create efficient workflows for digitizing, and maintains photography supplies • Assists with content creation as needed for exhibits and museum promotion • Coordinates image requests for specific items, including external requests, curatorial, and marketing • Assist Registration with digital asset management of image files • Assist other departments with imaging needs and troubleshooting • Assists with general collections management tasks such as couriering of objects, cleaning of museum, and with museum installation and deinstallation of exhibits, tracking location changes • Works across disciplines in a team atmosphere to achieve the museum’s strategic goals. • Ability to assess, prioritize, and project manage to meet deadlines with minimal supervision • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment • Good organizational skills and attention to detail • Experience with videography or other media forms a plus
