A man wakes paralyzed in a stranger's bedroom and stays frozen for most of the film.
Almost the entire story takes place in one small upstairs room, so the camera has to do
the work that blocking normally does.
The specific challenges up front: a montage that passes through four holidays in the same
room, which means precise reset of camera, lens and marks across set-dressing changes;
sustained close work on a motionless actor where the eyes are the only performance; a
practical-light scheme built from a Christmas tree, a jack-o-lantern and flashing green and
purple lights; one mirror shot that has to hide the camera; and a levitation effect at the
climax that needs clean plates shot on the day (levitation effect is not needed and can be
workshopped).
You are lighting it as well as shooting it. Small-footprint work in a real bedroom with little
room to hide stands, almost entirely at night, across five dressings of the same space. Message for more details.
