Role Description The Director of Photography (DoP) at JoyPark Studios will oversee visual storytelling for educational and narrative projects, ensuring a cohesive and compelling look for each production. This contract, on-site role in Houston, TX involves planning and executing shot lists, leading camera and lighting setups, and collaborating closely with directors, producers, and art departments to translate creative concepts into visual narratives. The DoP will manage camera crews, coordinate equipment needs, supervise on-set lighting design, and monitor image quality throughout filming. Day-to-day responsibilities include pre-production planning, test shoots, on-set supervision, and working with post-production teams to maintain visual consistency across final deliverables.

Qualifications

Strong Camera Operation and Camera skills, including working with a range of digital cinema systems.Proficiency in Lighting design and implementation for studio, location, and green-screen environments.Hands-on experience with Video Production workflows, from pre-production planning to on-set execution.Advanced Cinematography skills with a demonstrated ability to create compelling, story-driven visuals.Portfolio or reel showcasing narrative, educational, or documentary-style work.Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, producers, educators, and diverse creative teams.Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and safety on set.Experience working with children’s or educational content is a plus.Relevant education or equivalent professional experience in film, media production, or a related field.
