Film Teaching Assistants (Summer Performing Arts Camp)

SOCAPA – School of Creative and Performing Arts One of the premier visual and performing arts programs for young people in the world, SOCAPA offers teen summer programs in Filmmaking, Acting, Dance, Photography, and Music. Film TA's: \\- Support the Film program and lead Film teachers \\- Assist during Camera Tech classes \\- Assist in Screenwriting workshops \\- Attend the production meetings \\- Supervise film crews on shoot days \\- Assist in the editing room \\- And support other camp related tasks as needed On shoot days, call time is 8:15am, with the shoots usually ending between 4-6pm depending on how fast students work. The Film TA's make sure all actors and filmmakers in their group are accounted for, help check out equipment, troubleshoot technical and creative issues, and get them going as quickly as possible. Film TA's often end up acting in the students' films as well! The ideal candidate will: \\- Have a passion for education and working with teens \\- Be passionate about Film and the performing arts \\- Have experience working at another summer camp or in a similar TA position \\- Have leadership experience working with young people \\- Be able to build rapport quickly with students \\- Be fun, but firm, and able to lead a group \\- Be responsible and organized \\- Have excellent time management \\- Be able to handle crisis well - think quickly and take action \\- Be a team player and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done \\- Feel confident in the basics of Film production from writing, to shooting, to editing \\- Have completed at least two years of study in a college Film program \\- Or have at least two years of working experience in Film & TV \\- Be at least 21 years of age by the beginning of camp First Aid and CPR certifications are a plus Hours: \\- Position dates: June 9th - July 30th 2022 \\- Every two to three weeks, shifts/hours will be assigned amongst the hired Film TA's \\- An additional paid training session before the start of camp will be required Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
