Full Time Photography - Artist Assistant Position

Internationally renowned artist is looking for a studio assistant with no less than three years of continuous relevant experience. The applicant should be seeking a long-term commitment. Assistant will report directly to the artist. Candidates will need to meet the following qualifications: • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and remain focused in a fast paced environment; working well independently and in a team • Maintain long-term view of all projects and ensure that day-to-day function is in sync with greater studio goals • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of analog photography, darkroom chemistry, lab maintenance and b/w processing • Well versed in Adobe Photoshop • Capable of photographing with Capture One • Proficiency in: FileMaker, Photoshop, Mac OS (iCal, Keynote, Contacts), Microsoft Office (Entourage, Excel, Word), MailChimp, and File Transfers (Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.) Responsibilities: • Handling of large prints for display; preparing artwork for shipment • Photographic documentation and archiving of artwork; digital imaging (Photoshop and Capture One) • Correspondence with museums, galleries, and fabricators • Maintain FileMakerPro archives of art works, regular CV and bibliography updates, invoice management • Project preparation and planning • Travel booking • Carpentry and construction (domestic scale) • Handle social and professional calendars, answer phones and daily email correspondence • Other duties as needed by artist to meet studio goals/deadlines, and support the artist with personal needs whenever necessary, i.e. research and travel planning Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree (in art and/or art history) • A minimum of three years of continues experience in this field • Knowledge of contemporary art and photography Application Instructions: Please send a resume, cover letter, and three references in a single pdf
