GIS Specialist / Cartographer

POSITION: GIS Specialist / Cartographer Full-Time / Benefited / Hourly LOCATION: Pacific Watershed Associates, Inc. (PWA) office in McKinleyville, Humboldt County, CA COMPANY OVERVIEW: Pacific Watershed Associates, Inc. (PWA), a California certified small business established in 1989, is a full service geological, hydrological, engineering, and biological consulting firm specializing in the development of technically sound management, restoration, and environmental solutions for watershed, forest, riverine, and coastal habitats. PWA is based in McKinleyville, CA with an office in Petaluma (northern San Francisco Bay Area). POSITION DESCRIPTION: PWA is seeking qualified applicants for the position of GIS Specialist/Cartographer based in our McKinleyville office. • Minimum of two years professional experience as a GIS Specialist/Cartographer • Proficiency in ESRI GIS systems and applications, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap 10.8.1, ArcGIS editing and geoprocessing tools • Proficiency in map production for report products and publications • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access • Proficiency with Google Earth, KML, KMZ • Ability to read and interpret topographic maps and aerial photography • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Good ability to multitask, work well with others, and work under pressure • Flexible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team • Knowledge of GPS technology, data collection, and integration with GIS software • Experience with Avenza Maps application/software • Must have a satisfactory driving record and background check DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge of local and regional geology, geomorphic processes, hydrology, regulatory compliance, and conservation and/or forest land use issues • Experience with AutoCAD, including Civil 3D COMPENSATION: This position is classified as full time – hourly (40 hours per week, Monday - Friday).
