DanceBUG is the leading name in Dance Media and Software, celebrating over 25 years of innovative service to the dance community. We capture tens of thousands of performances each year and provide studios with exceptional photography, videography, streaming services, and competition software.
The Role
We are on the lookout for talented sports and event photographers to document vibrant dance performances across Canada. As part of our team, you will travel to various dance competitions and recitals, working in fast-paced environments with challenging lighting conditions to deliver stunning images that showcase the talent of each dancer.
What You’ll Do:
• Photograph live dance performances under low-light and stage lighting conditions.
• Quickly adjust exposure, ISO, and white balance for optimal photography results.
• Manage and back up images using DanceBUG’s advanced software tools.
• Efficiently upload or ship event media as required.
• Communicate actively with the on-site team and managers.
• Travel nationwide by car or plane to assigned events (transportation provided by DanceBUG).
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a photographer in event, sports, concert, theatre, or live action settings.
• Proficient with manual camera settings in changing light environments.
• Capable of working long production days.
• Valid Canadian driver's license.
• Clear criminal background and vulnerable sector check.
Equipment Needed:
• 2 professional DSLR or mirrorless camera bodies (Canon, Nikon, or Sony only).
• 2 of the following lenses (F2.8 preferred): 24-70 mm, 24-105 mm, 24-120 mm, 70-200 mm.
• 4+ memory cards (64 GB each), 2+ batteries & charger, monopod.
Perks & Pay:
• Daily compensation of $150-$400.
• All travel, accommodation (single room), and transport expenses covered.
• Paid training sessions in February and March 2026.
• Equipment stipend of up to $700.
Key Dates:
• Virtual Training: 4 hours per week in February.
• On-Site Training: 1-2 events in February/March.
• Priority Weekends: Mar 19-22, Mar 26-29, Apr 9-12, Apr 16-19, Apr 22-26, Apr 30-May 3, May 7-10.
