Medical Assistant for Ophthalmology Practice

Successful Ophthalmology practice in the Murrieta area has an immediate opening/opportunity for an experienced Ophthalmic assistant (preferred) but WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT MEDICAL ASSISTANT. We are currently seeking an outgoing, and energetic individual who can multi-task and is attentive to details. Must have this experience OR experience as a medical assistant and is willing to be trained in these areas. • Obtain and record accurate patient history, chief complaint and scribes physician's findings via Electronic Medical Records (EMR) • Perform lensometry and auto refraction...will train • Perform diagnostic testing of the eyes, knowledge of tests such as HVF, OCT, IOL Master, LenStar, and fundus photography • Obtain accurate visual accuities • Can perform functional ocular measurements of the eye such as color vision testing, BAT testing, and Amsler Grid tests • Administer topical ophthalmic medications • Perform accurate tonometry by applanation • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments • Verbalize pre and post-operative instructions in a clear and professional manner to patients for any procedure performed • Understands ocular pharmacology: names of meds and their uses • Communicates with patients directly or via telephone to respond appropriately and professionally to their needs. • Communicates with pharmacies and/or referring doctor's offices via electronically or telephone to respond appropriately and professionally to their needs.
