News Photographer

About the position Responsibilities • Utilize the latest editing and photography tools and software to tell great stories • Produce compelling, emotional, original content for broadcast and digital platforms • Utilize creative story-telling techniques (lighting, photography, graphics, etc.) to enhance stories • Be capable of covering, in a professional manner, a wide range of news topics, including breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political • Participate in daily editorial meetings by pitching strong, enterprise stories • Maintain professional broadcasting equipment in clean, working order • Safely operate news vehicles in a variety of locations and terrain, and operate live video technology • Perform other tasks as required by management Requirements • 2-5 years of professional broadcasting experience preferred • Knowledge of professional news gathering, editing, and content management systems • Ability to demonstrate creativity in daily assignments • Proficiency in professional social media engagement • Demonstrated news judgment, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills • Must be punctual, dependable and flexible with schedule • An understanding of the tenants of professional ethical journalism • Organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and meet all deadlines • Ability to handle breaking news and other challenging situations professionally Benefits • Comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental and financial health of employees and their families • Two medical plan options for full and part-time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas • Access to dental and eye care coverage • Fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance • Disability and life insurance • 401(k) program with a 100% match from the company on contributions up to the first 4% of pay • Nine free virtual doctor's appointments with a physician through Teladoc • 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit and nine paid holidays per year
