Pay Range: $1,483.20-$1,596.50 per credit hour
Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months' salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description:
The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is looking for an instructor to teach VIS 602 Essentials for Visual Communicators: Mobile Photography and Editing on Wednesdays 9:30-12:15, August 26-September 23, 2026, during the Fall 2026 Semester. (1 credit)

Course Description: Teaches mobile photography as a storytelling tool for music industry promotion and personal branding; emphasizes exposure, composition, light, and editing apps for portraiture, live performance coverage, and visual narratives optimized for social media platforms.

Qualifications:
Master's degree required. Preference given to applicants with prior teaching experience.

Responsibilities:
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:

Developing a syllabus. Ordering books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes in advance. Preparing for classes. Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others. Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet. Ability to hold office hours on campus. Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
Tools/Equipment: Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
