part-time Gallery Assistant

photo-eye is seeking a part-time Gallery Assistant. Applicants should have a solid knowledge of the history of photography and, in particular, contemporary fine-art photography. Candidates should show enthusiasm for the medium and knowledge of various photographic processes. Gallery sales experience is a plus. Responsibilities include: \\- Assisting the Gallery Director with daily operations of our physical and online galleries \\- Handling, cataloging, and selling of artwork, customer service, social media, and exhibition preparation \\- Website database and image updates \\- Shipping and receiving artwork to and from artists and clients \\- Assisting with Gallery Openings and Events \\- Administrative support \\- Regular marketing newsletter sent to client base accompanying a weekly blog post \\- Managing submissions to our Photographer's Showcase program and communication with applicants Qualifications and Requirements: \\- Excellent computer and typing skills with a working knowledge of Mac computers and Microsoft Office \\- Basic HTML or coding experience is a plus \\- Excellent file management skills and understanding of information systems \\- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and FileMaker Pro preferred \\- Applicant should work well as part of a collaborative team, but also be self-motivated and prioritize tasks independently \\- Must be dependable with reliable transportation and be available to work on Saturdays \\- Attention to detail, organization, ability to multi-task with great verbal communication skills \\- Excellent writing skills and experience in proofreading \\- Flexibility in working additional days when needed
