Photographer

WDAF-TV FOX4 Kansas City is seeking a full-time News Photographer who creates high-quality video content that drives storytelling for broadcast and digital news platforms. This role requires strong storytelling ability, technical expertise, and the ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.

* **Essential Duties & Responsibilities**

* Shoot video and sound for news reports, including live shots, interviews, and breaking news coverage
* Collaborate with reporters, producers, and assignment desk personnel on story development and execution
* Set up and execute interviews while capturing strong, relevant b-roll
* Edit video for broadcast and digital platforms using non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
* Operate live transmission equipment (TVU, Dejero, or similar) as assigned
* Assist with newscast editing as part of cross-training
* Maintain and properly care for station equipment and vehicles
* Perform other duties as assigned

* **Requirements & Skills**

* Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating video recording equipment
* Television news photography experience preferred
* Proficiency in non-linear editing systems (Adobe Premiere Pro preferred)
* Strong understanding of visual storytelling, lighting, composition, and audio techniques
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure
* Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

* **Education & Experience**
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Degree in broadcasting, journalism, or related field preferred

* **Work Environment & Physical Requirements**
* Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
* Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
* Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and severe weather
* Operate cameras, computers, and vehicles for extended periods
