TK Photography Chicago is seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled Photographer specializing in children with special needs to serve Chicago's vibrant special education community. Chicago has one of the country's strongest special education networks — from Chicago Public Schools' extensive programs to private therapeutic schools, disability-specific organizations, and nonprofits serving families with diverse needs. This community is deeply underserved by professional photography. Families want portraits that celebrate their children but often struggle to find photographers who understand how to work with kids who have autism, sensory processing differences, physical disabilities, or developmental delays. This role requires far more than technical photography skill. It requires patience — the willingness to slow down, wait for the right moment, and never rush a child or family. It requires an adaptive mindset — the ability to modify posing, environment, lighting, and session structure to meet each child where they are. And it requires genuine empathy for families who may be overwhelmed by the idea of a photo session. Experience working with children with special needs — whether as a photographer, therapist, teacher, aide, or parent — is strongly valued. Knowledge of sensory-friendly environments is critical. Some sessions are in clients' homes; others are in familiar outdoor environments chosen by the family. This is deeply meaningful work.
