Photographer for Children with Special Needs -- Austin, TX

TK Photography Austin is seeking photographers with experience or strong desire to work with children who have special needs. This is a specialty designation that applies across all of our session types -- family photography, newborn sessions, school picture days, milestone portraits, and more. Not every photographer is equipped to work sensitively and effectively with children who have autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing differences, physical or developmental disabilities, or other special needs. Those who are represent an invaluable part of our team and our ability to serve every Austin family. Working with special needs children requires patience above all else -- sessions may take twice as long, require different posing approaches, sensory-friendly environments, and flexibility to accept that a perfect technical setup may need to be abandoned in favor of what makes a child comfortable. It requires close collaboration with parents, who are the true experts on their child. The images produced from these sessions are often among the most treasured a family ever receives. We actively market our special needs photography capabilities and the demand from Austin families is real and growing.
