Photographer - immediate hire

Karma is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Retoucher/Photographer to join our New York gallery. This role will be responsible for retouching, art documentation photography, and exhibition photography for our New York locations, along with local file management, equipment maintenance, and daily recordkeeping. This position will work closely with our NY based lead photographer / operation teams and will interact regularly with our sales teams.Duties and Responsibilities: Photography and Photoshop: Mock-up images of artworks to scale, according to real artwork dimensions and the Karma scale guideManage daily Capture One sessions and ensure all necessary settings are applied to every imageAssist in photographing all incoming artwork inventory for exhibitions, fairs, and purchasesAssist with the production and creative output of a variety of case specific photo shootsRetouch all images photographed in Capture One for exportExport files from Capture One to the necessary sizes and file types, according to internal employee needs and external client needsManage files on a shared server according to the internal organization system kept by the Lead PhotographerAssist with Photoshop needs assigned by the Lead Photographer, including mocking up artworks in client homes, gallery spaces, frames, and outdoor installationsMaintain all equipment for daily use, including camera bodies, lenses, tripods, lights, computers, hard drives, and batteriesKeep a daily record of photographed artworksOccasionally travel out of state for offsite photography needsMake occasional videos of artworks for sales purposesSkills and Qualifications B.F.A. in Photography, or equivalent in professional experiencePrior experience working in a fine art setting, gallery and/or professional photography settingExceptional color management and image editing and retouching skillsExcellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to carefully follow directionExcellent communication skills and team player attitudeMust be comfortable with a high volume of outputMust be able to prioritize and meet frequently changing deadlinesStrong proficiency with Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite, and Capture One ProStrong technical troubleshooting skillsMust have a portfolio of recent work to demonstrate required skills and abilitiesKnowledge and enthusiasm for our gallery roster and contemporary art is helpful
