About Us:
The Chicago Yacht Club is a premier sailing and social club with a rich tradition of competitive sailing, community events, and maritime excellence. We are seeking a motivated Photography & Communications Intern to join our Communications team for the Summer 2026 season. This internship is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience capturing and sharing the excitement of sailing, regattas, and club events while building your professional portfolio.
What You’ll Do:
Working directly with our Communications Director and Digital Content Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
• Photographing sailing programs, regattas, club events, and community activities
• Editing and organizing images for internal and external use
• Uploading photos into our content management system
• Assisting with live coverage of events on Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms
• Supporting marketing and administrative projects as needed
What We’re Looking For:
• Strong photography skills and an eye for capturing dynamic action and lifestyle moments
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator)
• Organized, proactive, and able to work independently
• Comfortable on boats and enthusiastic about sailing or marine environments
• Creative mindset with knowledge of basic design principles
• Preferred: your own camera, though Nikon equipment will be provided
Internship Details:
• Start: May 18, 2026 | End: August 28, 2026 (flexible dates)
• Primarily based at Monroe Station, Chicago, with occasional travel to Belmont Harbor for regattas
• Parking provided
