Photography Instructor

Photosprouts is the top-rated, in-person photography education company based in San Francisco.

We are looking for photography instructors (contractors/part timers) to teach the Beginners and Intermediate Workshops. The hourly rate is $35. Typically, a Photosprouts instructor works 3-10 hours per week depending on which classes he/she wishes to take.

Candidates do NOT need a strong photography background to fulfill this position. For instance, we will consider a full-time programmer who has photography knowledge and wants to commit a few hours every week to teach photography as a part time job. A college student of any major can also work for us if he/she fulfills the requirement.

We hope our instructors can fulfill the following requirements:

4. Great sense of humor

5. Ability to explain things clearly

6. Basic photography knowledge and be able to shoot in the manual mode of a camera proficiently

7. Follow Photosprouts' class syllabus strictly

What to teach?

1. The Beginners' Workshop. The Beginners' Workshop is a 2-hour class recurring every Thursday evening (5pm-7pm) and Saturday morning (10am-12pm) in San Francisco Financial District (5 minutes walk from the Montgomery Bart station). Candidates are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the class for setting up the classroom. The class size is 6 and we pay 3 hours.

2. The Intermediate Workshop. The Intermediate Workshop is a 3-hour class recurring every Saturday (1pm-4pm) in San Francisco Financial District. Candidates are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the class for setting up the classroom. The class size is 6, and we pay 4 hours.

Candidates can apply to teach both the Beginner and Intermediate Workshops, or start with one of them.

As we have already developed a set of standardized teaching materials, candidates are not required to create their own presentation slides.

Successful candidates will be fully trained before they are assigned to teach the classes. Training hours are paid at $30/hour.
