Photography Studio Assistant - Luxury Boudoir Studio (Part-Time)

Silk & Lace Boudoir has spent the last eight years photographing women in Washington, D.C. Our clients come to us for a luxury boudoir experience, but what they leave with goes far beyond beautiful images. Women walk into our studio nervous, and they walk out standing taller. About the Role:

We are looking for a Studio Assistant for our D.C. studio. Think of this person as the operator of our physical space: the one who keeps the studio polished and welcoming, keeps our clients comfortable, and keeps our shoot days running smoothly.

You will be right there during sessions, supporting both the photographer and the client. You will see women being lifted up every single day, and you should be someone who loves being part of that. This role is equal parts hospitality, organization, and hands-on shoot support, all inside a warm, feminine, luxury environment.

What You'll Do:

Keep the studio beautiful

Prepare the studio before shoots and reset it afterward
Maintain a clean, tidy, professional setting that matches the luxury experience our clients expect
Open the space each day by vacuuming, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms

Welcome every client

Be the first face each client sees and generally the last: meet her at the front door when she arrives, greet her warmly, carry her bags, and walk her up to the studio, then walk her back down when her session ends
Get her settled in with a robe and a luxury drink, whether that's a mimosa or a coffee
Hang all of her outfits while she is in hair and makeup so everything is ready for her session

Support sessions

Assist the photographer with lighting and backdrop setups
Assist the photographer during shoots, including helping pose clients, managing outfit changes, cutting tags off clothing, fixing hair, and organizing whatever the client needs in the moment
Help clients feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for throughout their session

Run the practical side of the studio

Track inventory and flag when supplies are running low so they can be reordered
Monitor incoming client product orders and make sure clients pick them up in a timely manner

Keep our team connected

Keep open, constant communication with the team, including the owner and operator, about anything the studio may need
Send a daily end-of-day report to the photographer and the owner outlining your activities for the day
Help organize get-togethers and activities that keep our local team close and bonded

You genuinely enjoy working with people and know how to hold space for clients who may be nervous or stepping outside their comfort zone
You are organized by nature and like keeping things neat, while still being social and warm with the photographer and clients around you
You take pride in a spotless, well-run space
You are comfortable working in a boudoir photography environment, where clients are photographed in lingerie and intimate styling
You understand discretion instinctively; our clients trust us with something vulnerable, and confidentiality is as essential here as warmth
You are reliable, punctual, and take initiative when you see something that needs doing
You are 21 or older (serving mimosas is part of the welcome)

Physical Requirements

Able to lift up to 25 pounds on your own
Comfortable occasionally moving furniture, either alone or together with the photographer

Location: Washington, D.C. (in person)
Classification: Independent contractor
Schedule: This role follows our shoot calendar rather than a fixed weekly schedule. Shoot days run 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and typically fall Monday through Friday. Expect one to two weekend days per month (individual Saturdays or Sundays, not full weekends), and you will generally know about them weeks to months in advance.
Pay: $22–$25 per hour
Age requirement: 21 or older
