Sports Photographer

Our client, a dynamic sports media company covering a wide array of athletic events, is looking for a talented and passionate Sports Photographer to capture compelling imagery for our publications and digital platforms in the Provo, Utah, US area. This freelance/contractor role requires a keen eye for action, an understanding of sports dynamics, and the ability to work under pressure in various event environments. You will be responsible for shooting high-quality photographs of games, practices, athlete portraits, and behind-the-scenes moments. The ideal candidate is adept at capturing key moments, understands lighting, composition, and post-production editing to deliver exceptional visual content.

Responsibilities:
Photograph sporting events, including games, practices, and competitions, across various sports. Capture compelling action shots, player portraits, team photos, and lifestyle imagery related to sports. Work independently or as part of a photography team to cover assignments. Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and transported safely to and from assignments. Edit and process digital images using professional software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop). Deliver high-resolution images within tight deadlines, adhering to company style guides. Collaborate with editors and content creators to understand visual needs and content strategy. Maintain knowledge of current sports photography trends and techniques. Build and maintain a strong portfolio of sports-related work. Be adaptable and able to shoot in diverse conditions, including indoor and outdoor venues, varying lighting, and weather.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a sports photographer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of sports coverage. Proficiency in professional digital photography equipment and techniques. Expertise in image editing software such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Solid understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice. Knowledge of various sports and their key moments is a plus. Must possess own professional photography equipment. Strong creative vision and a passion for sports photography.
