To maintain and repair hand and power tools; maintain tool and equipment inventory and supply room for applied technology or academic program labs at a University; procure, issue, and secure tools, supplies, and equipment; maintain computerized inventory systems; perform related work. The University Shop Assistant provides technical support to the Photography Emphasis Area in the Department of Art, Design, & Visual Studies by maintaining the safety, function, organization, inventory, and cleanliness of the facilities and equipment. The position will be responsible for managing our darkroom and film lab, ensuring that all photochemistry is mixed and maintained to the highest standards. Equipment Management: • Oversee the checkout and return of photography and AV equipment in the entire Department of Art, Design, and Visual Studies, ensuring all items are in good working condition. Administrative Duties: • Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations in Photography labs • Store and dispose of hazardous chemicals using proper Boise State safety protocols • Keep accurate records of equipment checkouts, returns, and maintenance • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as necessary • Basic purchasing/ordering supplies and managing budget • Supervise student workers, verify student time cards are submitted in timely manner • Communicate with Art faculty regarding special needs and maintenance of darkroom facilities
