This is real-world newsroom work that provides hands‑on experience in community journalism while building a professional portfolio. The Roy Howard Community Journalism Center is a student‑powered newsroom at The University of Southern Mississippi, dedicated to reporting what matters in Southeast Mississippi’s underserved communities. You’ll be part of a professional newsroom environment and work on stories that matter — capturing video and photos, editing content, assisting with cutlines, and collaborating with reporters to tell stories visually across multiple platforms.
