Role Description
Unicornsurf is looking for a Videographer & Documentary Content Intern to help document the journey of building the company.

This is not a traditional corporate videography role.

You will have the opportunity to work directly alongside the founder and capture the real story of building a company from the ground up — the wins, setbacks, meetings, decisions, experiments, customer conversations, business development, product development, and unexpected moments that happen along the way.

Think documentary filmmaking meets entrepreneurship.

The goal is to create an authentic, ongoing body of content that allows an audience to experience what it is actually like to build a company in real time.

The Videographer & Documentary Content Intern will follow the founder throughout the entrepreneurial journey, capturing both planned and spontaneous moments. You will help identify moments that could become compelling stories, conduct informal interviews, capture B-roll, and turn raw footage into engaging long-form and short-form content.

ResponsibilitiesFollow the founder during key parts of the business-building journey and capture authentic, unscripted momentsFilm meetings, events, customer interactions, networking, travel, product development, business development, and day-to-day activitiesCapture interviews and informal conversations that help tell the story behind the businessDevelop a strong understanding of the company and identify moments that could make compelling contentOperate cameras, microphones, lighting, and other production equipmentCapture high-quality video and audio in both controlled and unpredictable environmentsShoot B-roll and supporting footage that helps create a compelling narrativeEdit footage into long-form videos, short-form clips, social media content, and other digital formatsHelp develop episode concepts, storylines, hooks, titles, and content ideasOrganize, back up, and manage video assets and project filesRepurpose long-form footage into content for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedInWork closely with the founder to develop the visual style and storytelling approach of the seriesBe willing to move quickly and adapt when unexpected opportunities or interesting moments arise

The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who is curious, creative, entrepreneurial, and hungry to learn.

You don't need to be an experienced filmmaker. More important than having the perfect résumé is having the ability to recognize a good story and the willingness to get out there and capture it.

Technical QualificationsExperience with the following is highly beneficial:

DSLR or mirrorless camera operationSmartphone cinematographyAudio recording and wireless microphonesLightingAdobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar editing softwareShort-form content creationYouTube productionSocial media videoPhotographyA portfolio is preferred, but raw talent, creativity, and a willingness to learn can be more important than formal experience.

QualificationsExperience or demonstrated interest in videography, filmmaking, content creation, journalism, communications, or a related fieldStrong understanding of basic video production principlesAbility to operate a camera and capture quality footageBasic video editing experienceStrong storytelling instinctsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently and adapt quicklyStrong communication skillsInterest in startups, entrepreneurship, technology, investing, or businessPortfolio or examples of previous video/content work preferredStudents and early-career candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
