The position is a joint position between the Wisconsin State Assembly and Wisconsin State Senate and reports to the Assembly Chief Clerk's office. This position will provide non-partisan support to the Wisconsin State Legislature.Position SummaryThe Photographer will respond to requests from legislators and staff to produce still images for use in newsletters, press releases, school group photos, letters, postcards, Assembly brochures, the State of Wisconsin Blue Book and various other publications. The photographer is required to provide their own photographic equipment. For more information related to benefits, please see: https://legis.wisconsin.gov/lhro/benefits/ .Job DetailsExamples of Work PerformedCapture photographic still images upon request and at legislative settings including:committee hearings and press conferencesfloor coverage during Assembly / Senate session days (some late nights per session)legislative portraitsschool groupslegislators with visiting constituentsgovernor's bill signingsMaintain camera equipment and related accessories.Work with graphic artists to facilitate production of printed materials.Conduct appropriate post-production, manage digital files and deliver finished products to legislative clients.QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of basic still photography concepts including advanced understanding of camera and lens functions, exposure fundamentals, lighting techniques and image composition.Thorough knowledge of digital capture and output; color management skills and the ability to manage digital files in the Adobe Photoshop environment.Ability to work comfortably under pressure and with people from various backgrounds ranging in age from young elementary school children to elderly citizens.Ability to act professionally, objectively and impartially when dealing with legislators and the public.Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage a variety of tasks and projects.Ability to be highly productive and meet deadlines under stressful conditions.Ability to provide excellent customer service.Minimum Training and ExperienceGraduate of a college or university of recognized standing.18 months of a combination of training and experience in photography, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations)Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing.Occasional sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching.Reach with hands and arms.How To ApplyTo apply for the position, please submit a cover letter outlining your experience and a resume to [email protected] no later than July 17, 2026.
