Teaching Artists will be employees of the Oakland Public Education Fund working at Youth Beat. **COVID-19 Note** - Due to the unique position of the school within a juvenile justice facility, and the inability to offer these students virtual instruction in an engaging and productive way, we are planning to move forward with in-person instruction this school year for a small group ( < 8 ) of students. Songwriting and performance experience are a bonus, but the real goal of the workshop is to provide technical skills in operating a soundboard and recording software, creating beats and mixing/finishing a song. Even if you are not a professional video producer, as long as you are willing to learn the skills, we will be able to prepare you to teach the course. * Work with diverse incarcerated youth at Camp Sweeney as they learn the basics of multimedia production * Build out and implement an 8-week Youth Beat music production curriculum for small groups of students * Participate in Professional Development and Staff Trainings in mid-August and throughout the year * Follow data and attendance tracking procedures and complete regular progress reports for Youth Beat
